How OPP Assessments Compare with Myers Briggs

The Myers Briggs is designed primarily for understanding an individual’s behavioral orientations as influenced by their job, boss and organizational culture.  It can have considerable change from one administration to another depending on those influences; this has been experienced by many people.  Certainly, this doesn’t mean it isn’t useful for providing some self-awareness or understanding of others.

For important applications like recruitment, promotion, career development, coaching, or succession planning, organizations need to deploy a more comprehensive performance assessment system.  PPS (Pro.file Performance System) consists of two Performance Assessment Instruments and processes to more objectively and accurately utilize results.  Myers Briggs is not designed for these applications.

JPP (Job Performance Pro.file) is a Job Behavioral Analysis that enables managers or HR professionals to perform a job analysis and translate a job description into a behavioral traits model.  The behavioral traits model identifies the degree and combination of characteristics that are necessary to be a high performer in the role.  This can be utilized for any role: entry level to CEO in any organization.

OPP (Organizational Performance Pro.file) is a Performance Assessment Tool which generates a behavioral traits profile on an individual and enables organizations to “compare” a person’s traits to a job’s traits and evaluate the “fit”.

Personality Tests, Types and Traits Explained

A key difference between behavioral traits (enduring characteristics) and actions (your response to a situation, person or circumstance) is that we can all change our actions – but we can’t change our traits.  Measure behavioral traits in individuals for important decisions.

The OPP performance assessment tool, identifies an employee’s “job behaviors”. This provides their manager with insights into how that employee perceives their role, the organizational culture, how they need to adapt their behaviors to the environment, and whether that is causing them challenges or stress.

Very importantly, JPP & OPP also identify the key motivational factors that will be important in job performance and the degree of alignment between those job motivational factors and an applicant’s or employee’s motivating factors.
