Management Training

Recruitment
We feel the job models have greatly improved our recruitment process by identifying the traits of the prospective applicants, describing what motivates them and comparing them to the job behavioral requirements identified by the [job model] for that particular position. This process has proven itself time and again as being very accurate, to the point that we do not recommend hiring anyone whose behavioral profile is not consistent with the model for that particular job.
I strongly believe that we have improved the quality of our hiring process in using [the assessment program]. I have line managers who now will not recruit without using the tools. … they feel more confident in their final hiring decisions … and it has made them more aware of what they are looking for.
[The assessment program] provides us with the ability to gather more information about applicants to our organization. We can be more effective in our screening process and increase the probability of making better hiring decisions. By having the managers analyze the positions through the job models, it enables them to critically review the position prior to the interview process and make adjustments in their questions to ensure the critical competencies are covered. We use the information from the completed individual profile to develop specific behavioral questions to ask references about candidates that have made our short lists.
Team Development
The individual profile allows better insight into an individual’s traits and the effect on other team members. By understanding each other’s personality, team members can begin to work more cooperatively and be better equipped to reduce the number of conflict situations.
Succession Planning
The individual profile assists us to identify suitable successors for key positions within the organization.
Strategic Insights
[The assessment program] has been incorporated to a large extent into our corporate culture. We have found it to be an effective process in identifying traits in all members of our firm. Once identified, we then have the ability to design our work structures and teams around various individuals' strengths.
As identified in Concord's candid comments about the assessments, there has been a significant amount of organizational ‘stress’ present in our operations. However, it was unclear as to the origin of it and/or the manner to address it. After gaining a better understanding of the personal traits and the associated working styles, it became very apparent that the challenges we have been facing are people issues and not process problems as initially thought. With this insight, the action steps needed to resolve this situation and achieve strategic clarity became very obvious …. Frankly, the value of [the management insights we learned] is difficult to quantify as it truly is ‘priceless’.
Planning
The profiling process used at the beginning of our strategic planning retreat was immensely useful in helping us to understand how our collective strengths and weaknesses would not only affect our goal-setting and visioning, but also our challenges in actually implementing our strategy throughout the organization.
